Tips on Buying Bacon:

Bacon is a great tool when eating on the high fat, low carb diet. Plus, it tastes amazing! I don’t typically eat 20 pieces of bacon in one sitting, but in moderation, bacon is the best.

In order to pick the right bacon, it is important to keep in mind that whatever the pig ate is what you are going to eat. You are what you eat!! If the pig ate better food, then the bacon will have more nutrients. As long as the pig wasn’t shot up with antibiotics, hormones, or fed contaminated food, then the bacon will have fewer toxins when you eat it.

When you look on the back of a package of bacon, it is important to check out the ingredient list.

Bad Bacon Ingredient List:

  • Cured with water
  • Salt
  • Sodium phosphates
  • Sodium ascorbate
  • Sodium nitrate.

Good Bacon Ingredient List:

  • Pork
  • Water
  • Sea salt
  • EVAPORATED cane sugar.

Two rules I like to follow about picking food are…

  1. If you don’t know what your ingredients are in the food you're eating, you probably shouldn't eat that.
  2. If your meat has simple sugar in it, you definitely shouldn’t eat it.

I always say the less ingredients, the better, when it comes to food.

If someone handed you a piece of sodium ascorbate, would you just take it and say “thanks man! I was really craving this!” …I sure hope not. Like I mentioned before, if I don't know what the ingredient is, I don't eat it.
